This Brompton Military Style hat is a fun pattern to print off at home. A fully lined hat which is easy to make and fabulous to wear. Now in sizes Small, Medium and Large (see size info below). Suitable for level: intermediate.
This hat pattern is an immediate download and consists of pattern instructions and 6 templates to print off on A4 paper on your own printer at home or at a copy shop.
Brompton hat is suitable to be made in cotton, denim, needlecord or tweedy fabrics like the one shown and I designed it to team up with the Brompton bag or Backback pattern (see separate listing), which would look fabulous made in matching fabric (and linings....yum!).
If you would prefer to purchase a hard copy pattern I have a separate listing 'BROMPTON HAT paper pattern'.
Please note that the instructions are in English only with metric measurements.
Fabric requirements: Suitable for wool tweed or checks, denim, corduroy, needlecord, cotton plain or printed. You will need 50cm of outer fabric, 30cm of lining fabric (such as satin or printed or plain cotton), and fusible fleece interfacing or wadding with spray glue and a 20cm piece of medium weight fusible interfacing.
Instructions for printing:
This file consists of 8 x A4 pages of step by step full colour instructions (which you can look at on your phone or tablet, so no need to print off if you prefer) and 6 x A4 pages of templates (black and white). Templates 3a and 3b are two half sections and will need to be stuck together (pritt stick is good for this!).
N.B. When printing off the templates it is important to ensure that printing is in black and white and at scale actual size i.e. 100%. If in doubt, please check the test square on the first page which should measure 5cm x 5cm.
Please take into consideration the pattern direction or pile direction if using corduroy or prints with a direction. Always have pile facing downwards.
Tips for measuring your head:
Measure your head by wrapping the tape measure around your head, just above the ears and around the temple and forehead area, pull gently so the measure is taut.
Sizing:
This pattern is sized to:
Small= 55cm, Medium= 57cm and Large= 59cm.
Happy sewing!
